CJ & Aliyah came together as a couple to meet with me to talk about an engagement ring. The idea of the first chat was to discuss some ideas and details that Aliyah may like to have in her ring.
Once we started the conversation and learned about what Aliyah liked, we were in a great place to begin the design process. From this point on, CJ and I would work together and collaborate to create the perfect design, while leaving Aliyah surprised with the final result.
First things first, we decided on a round 1.12ct round brilliant cut diamond for the center stone. We set off on designing the ring, exploring countless options and ideas.
We considered details such as pavé set diamonds in the band, varieties of cathedral shank settings, and tulip/petal shaped prongs. All the variations were inspired by the ideas Aliyah gave us. We wanted to find the most perfect way to tastefully incorporate the details she liked into one exquisite ring.
CJ impressed me as he was a natural at design, suggesting his own ideas that he thought Aliyah may like. The ring that Aliyah wears today is a work of art, designed with her in mind. Her ring features details that are rarely seen together, creating a very unique masterpiece.
We ultimately create her ring in 14k yellow gold with colorless VS diamonds. The center stone is flanked by two smaller round diamond, creating a subtle ‘three-stone’ effect. The cathedral style band is half-round and high polished creating a timeless and classic look from above.
However, when viewing from the side profile, this ring is incredibly modern. The setting that hold the center stone is composed of beautiful petal shaped prongs that have small diamonds inside them. The ‘bridge’ of the cathedral shank is also decorated with pavé and bezel set stones.
Aliyah’s ring is a great example of fusing timeless craftsmanship with our modern design approach.
CJ planned a special day on the water, taking Aliyah on the boat off the coast of Hilton Head, SC. There was a little bit of rain this day, but that did not dampen the day. Upon arriving back on shore, he had invited her family to be there as he proposed. Like a true love story, a rainbow was in the sky as they all celebrated their special moment.
